Nov. 19 (UPI) — The Washington Redskins are signing Mark Sanchez after losing starting quarterback Alex Smith to multiple injuries in Week 11.

Sources told NFL Network and ESPN that the team was signing Sanchez on Monday after working out several quarterbacks. Sanchez will backup Colt McCoy, following Smith’s departure.

Sanchez owns a 37-35 record as a starter.

McCoy, 32, completed 6-of-12 passes for 54 yards and a touchdown in relief of Smith on Sunday. He completed 66.7 percent of his throws for 348 yards, two scores and an interception in three 2018 preseason appearances.
