Robert Griffin III: Former NFL star shows off basketball prowess in Estonia

Sept. 13 (UPI) — He might not be on an NFL roster but Robert Griffin III is still dominating one sport: rec league basketball.

The former Heisman Trophy winner and rookie phenom for the Washington Redskins posted a video on social media Tuesday, showing off his basketball skills during a session in Estonia.

“She said that was smooth baby, I said just for you baby,” Griffin wrote on Instagram. “@gretesadeiko. #Cardio #CrossTraining #YouDidntKnow #DidItOnEm #OntheFieldOrTheCourtImWitIt #Range.”

RGIII posted another video last week while taking off for a fast break.

“Fast break vision then…SWIPE LEFT—> Leave em in the dust handles w/ the finish Just having fun and staying ready Why Basketball? – #Cardio #Acceleration #ChangeOfDirection #CrossTraining – #KnowYourWhy #NoPressureNoDiamonds.”

“Doing Cardio in Estonia because of Hurricane Irma,” Griffin wrote on a Twitter post.

Griffin, 27, made the Pro Bowl during his rookie campaign after being selected by the Redskins as the No. 2 overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. He joined the Browns last offseason, but managed just 886 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions in five games. He posted a 1-4 record as a starter for the Browns and completed a career-worst 59.2 percent of his passes.

The Browns cut Griffin in March. He worked out for the Los Angeles Chargers this summer but remains a free agent.

Griffin had an interesting Tweet on Sunday, suggesting he wanted to comeback to the NFL.

“Man I know I can help,” he wrote. “Forreal forreal. That’s why I’m steady grinding.”

Griffin was the starting point guard for Copperas Cove High School when he was a freshman. His high school coach, Jack Welch, told USA Today in 2014 that Griffin could have played professional basketball.

Griffin and fiancé Grete Sadeiko welcomed a baby girl on July 2. The couple got engaged in May in Florida.
