Safari group trapped by lion perched on vehicle’s hood

May 8 (UPI) — A safari-goer in Tanzania shared video of the moment the tour came to a halt when a lion jumped on the hood of their vehicle.

The video, filmed during a safari in Ngorongoro Crater National Park, shows the group of safari vehicles stopped to observe some lions in the road.

A curious lioness approaches the filmer’s vehicle and the tourists quickly climb down from the open-air upper area of the vehicle to the enclosed lower area when the big cat jumps on the hood.

“We were terrified because the roof was open!” the filmer wrote. “Fortunately, she was not interested in fresh meat, but the warmth of the engine.”

The video shows the lioness lay down on the hood.

The filmer said the animal eventually wandered back to the other lions.
