Snake peeks out from toilet drain at auto parts store

Sept. 25 (UPI) — A large snake has twice been spotted lurking in the drain of a toilet in a Singapore auto parts store, and it was caught on camera during its second visit.

Jimmy Lim, a manager at Scotts Motors, said he first spotted the python’s head peeking out from the toilet drain about two weeks ago.

His daughter, Lim Sze Hui, posted a video to Facebook showing the python poking its head out and sticking out its tongue when it made a repeat appearance last week.

“Danger noodle invades my dad’s office toilet. Watch out for snakes if you’re in the Upper Thomson area,” she wrote.

Lim said he was not afraid of the toilet invader.

“I wasn’t scared of it because I always go jungle trekking,” Lim told the Singapore Straits-Times. “I saw only the head. Judging from the size of the head, it could be up to 2m [6.5 feet] long.”

Anbarasi Boopal, deputy chief executive of the Animal Concerns Research and Education Society, said the serpent in the video is a reticulated python. He said the species is not generally dangerous to humans.

Boopal said ACRES occasionally receives similar calls about snakes and other animals coming up from the drains of toilets.

“We are not certain why this happens, but our storm drainage networks are home to wild animals like snakes,” he said. “Once in a while, snakes like pythons manage to find their way into the sewer system.”
