DEZHOU, China, April 14 (UPI) — Chinese police stopped a topless car for speeding and discovered the vehicle wasn’t a convertible — it was a junker car with the roof removed.
Video from the traffic stop in Dezhou, Shandong Province, shows police marveling at the man’s do-it-yourself convertible, which reports indicated was a Volkswagen Santana from a scrapyard.
The man was in the process of transforming the car into a convertible, but he hadn’t finished the job and there was exposed wiring visible on the passenger seat.
The driver was ticketed for speeding and driving without the proper license.
