Stranded whale rescued by locals in Philippines city

Nov. 12 (UPI) — Dozens of residents of a city in the Philippines rushed to a local beach to rescue a 26-foot whale stranded in shallow waters.

A video recorded at a beach in Ozamiz City shows dozens of residents helping the Bryde’s whale local fisherman spotted struggling in the shallow water.

The video shows the residents combing their strength and pushing the whale back out to deeper waters, where it is able to swim away.

Experts said the Bryde’s whale, a critically endangered species, may have become disoriented due to the effects of climate change on the ocean.
