Syria rebels deny any deal reached with Russia for Douma

Beirut (AFP) – Syrian rebels holding a final pocket of their onetime stronghold in Eastern Ghouta denied on Friday they had reached a deal with government ally Russia that would see them evacuated

Moscow had announced securing an agreement that would see Jaish al-Islam leave their bastion town of Douma, but the group’s spokesman told AFP talks were ongoing.

“We have not reached an agreement yet,” said Hamza Bayraqdar.
