Trump says Syria attack will be ‘met forcefully’, promises quick decision

Washington (AFP) – US President Donald Trump on Monday said an apparent chemical weapons attack in Syria would be “met forcefully” and indicated a decision on military action was hours away.

“We’re making a decision as to what we do with respect to the horrible attack that was made near Damascus and it will be met and it will be met forcefully,” Trump said, surrounded by his national security team.

“We’re going to make a decision tonight or very shortly thereafter,” Trump said, following an attack on Saturday that killed more than 40 people and is being blamed on the Syrian regime.
