Trump voices hope Koreas can live ‘together’ in ‘peace’

Palm Beach (United States) (AFP) – US President Donald Trump voiced hope Wednesday that North and South Korea, technically still at war, can pave the way to a lasting peace at a series of upcoming summits.

“We hope to see the day when the whole Korean peninsula can live together in safety, prosperity and peace,” Trump told a joint press conference in Florida with visiting Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

“As I’ve said before, there is a bright path available to North Korea when it achieves denuclearization in a complete and verifiable and irreversible way,” he added.

“It will be a great day for them and a great day for the world.”
