Rick Ross to headline Memphis Madness

MEMPHIS, Oct. 3 (UPI) —

Hip-hop artist Rick Ross will headline 2014’s Memphis Madness event where he’ll open the season for the Memphis Tigers basketball team on Oct. 18.

Ross is set to perform "family friendly" versions of his multiple hit singles during the event’s halftime show, said Tigers basketball head coach Josh Pastner. The Tigers will hold the annual celebration at FedExForum.

"I love Memphis Madness because it means basketball season is almost here," said Pastner. "It’s also a great opportunity for us to showcase Tiger Nation as the best fans in college basketball to our new players and recruits. We’re excited to add Rick Ross to this year’s event and look forward to introducing the 2014-15 Tigers to our fans."

Tickets for the event will go on sale Oct. 6 at 10 a.m. for a cost of $5. They can be purchased on gotigersgo.com or at athletic ticket office at 570 Normal Street in Memphis. FedExForum will not be selling the tickets.

Memphis Madness will open its door at 5 p.m. on the day of the event. The Tigers cheerleaders and pom squads will begin the entertainment outside the arena at 4 p.m. alongside the Mighty Sound of the South and a live DJ.
