WWE Smackdown: Randy Orton punishes Rey Mysterio

Nov. 21 (UPI) — Randy Orton set his sights on a new target on Smackdown as he faced off against Rey Mysterio in the main event.

Orton, who has been known recently to torture WWE fan-favorites, spent his match with Mysterio on Tuesday attempting to rip off the high-flyer’s signature luchador mask.

Mysterio pulled out all of his tricks against The Apex Predator and was able to land his 619 finishing maneuver, however, Orton was able to roll out of the ring in order to avoid being pinned.

Mysterio then performed a head-first slide to the outside area before Orton dodged the attack by delivering a sudden devastating RKO. Orton then dragged Mysterio back into the ring to perform another RKO before pinning him for the three count.

Orton, after the match, placed a steel chair over Mysterio’s neck and proceeded to throw him into the steel ring post. This gave Orton the opportunity to steal Mysterio’s mask which he held up in victory as Smackdown went off the air.

Daniel Bryan explained why he cheated against AJ Styles last week to become the new WWE Champion. Bryan had defeated The Phenomenal One after attacking him below the belt after the referee was accidentally taken down.

Bryan said that a new version of himself has been born and that his Yes Movement is dead.

“The only thing that matters is that you never, ever give up on your dream ever, ever again!” Bryan said, after delivering a speech about how his dreams wouldn’t allow him to lose to Styles.

Bryan will be defending the WWE Championship against Styles on Dec. 16 at TLC.

Other moments from Smackdown included Charlotte Flair explaining that she assaulted Ronda Rousey at Survivor Series in honor of sidelined Smackdown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch; Flair defeating Billie Kay and then Peyton Royce via disqualification in separate matches; Smackdown commissioner Shane McMahon and The Miz losing to a pair of local competitors in an upset victory; Asuka and Naomi defeating Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville; and The New Day defeating The Bar and Big Show in a Thanksgiving Feast Fight.

The Thanksgiving Feast Fight featured The New Day sending Big Show crashing through a table filled with Thanksgiving foods and using a turkey to attack The Bar member Sheamus.
