WWE Smackdown: Sami Zayn confronts Kevin Owens about McMahon feud

Sept. 27 (UPI) — Kevin Owens was confronted by his former friend and longtime adversary Sami Zayn Tuesday on Smackdown Live as Zayn attempted to reason with the former Universal Champion about his actions towards the McMahon family.

Zayn shared how he is worried that Owens is going to cross a line that there will be no coming back from when he faces Smackdown commissioner Shane McMahon inside the Hell in a Cell structure on Oct. 8.

Upset at the interruption, Owens scoffed at Zayn’s pleas and stated that nothing Zayn has ever done in his career has had the same impact as when he assaulted Vince McMahon weeks ago. Smackdown general manager Daniel Bryan then entered the arena and declared that Owens would be facing Zayn once again in a one-on-one match.

The main event of the night, the two rivals immediately began attacking each other right as the bell rang. Once Owens gained control, however, and delivered a superkick, K.O. then decimated Zayn with a powerbomb onto the ring apron which caused the referee to stop the match.

As medical staff attended to Zayn, Owens attempted to go one step further and placed Zayn’s head inside of a steel chair in an attempt to potentially end his career. Suddenly, Shane McMahon arrived on the scene and ran after Owens who got away and ran into the crowd after he pushed Zayn into the commissioner.

Also on Smackdown, WWE Champion Jinder Mahal continued to mock his Hell in a Cell opponent Shinsuke Nakamura one week after his controversial tirade against The Artist was labeled insensitive and racist by critics.

This time, however, Nakamura arrived on the scene and quickly dispatched of Mahal’s henchmen The Singh Brothers before he brawled with The Modern Day Maharaja inside the ring. Nakamura eventually laid out the champ with a vicious Kinshasa.

Other moments from Smackdown Live included Baron Corbin defeating Tye Dillinger before The Lone Wolf demanded a match against AJ Styles for the Untied States Championship at Hell in a Cell; The Usos defeating The Hype Bros before they were confronted by The New Day who viewed the match from the audience; Randy Orton interrupting Rusev’s Pride of Bulgaria Celebration with an RKO; Charlotte Flair defeating Ms. Money in the Bank Carmella; and Dolph Ziggler accepting a match against Bobby Roode at Hell in a Cell.
