There’s hope for America yet. According to a new Rasmussen poll, Americans still prefer stores to show signs reading “Merry Christmas” instead of “Happy Holidays.”
The huge majority of Americans, 68%, voted for “Merry Christmas” over the “Happy Holidays” voters, who comprised 23% of the population surveyed. In all 34 of the categories Rasmussen polled, “Merry Christmas” won by a wide margin.
With men, “Merry Christmas” was ahead 69% to 2%.
With women, it was ahead, 67% to 23%.
Whites: 69% to 20%.
Blacks: 56% to 40%.
Of course, considering that religious groups are more likely to be Republicans, while secularists tend to be Democratic, notwithstanding their worship of (according to Jamie Foxx) their Lord and Saviour, Barack Obama, Republicans favored the traditional “Merry Christmas” by a whopping 86% to 8%, while Democrats only voted for it by the slim margin of 51% to 41%.
The reason this bodes well for America is that, despite the determined efforts by secularists to remove overt expressions of religiosity form the public arena, people still care about their religious traditions. And no amount of leftist secularists’ glossing over the meaning of the religious holidays of the Judeo-Christian tradition can obscure that fact.
