Cruz to Keynote Labor Day Weekend Tea Party Event on Rubio's Turf

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) will keynote a major Tea Party event during Labor Day weekend in Orlando, FL, which also happens to be the home state of Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL).

Rubio recently lost the trust of many conservatives over his support of the Senate’s immigration bill.

As the The Hill noted, Cruz will join influential conservative writer and entrepreneur Michelle Malkin and Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) at the Americans for Prosperity event. Interestingly, as the publication notes, Rubio had been “been previously announced as a speaker at the event, but was not mentioned in the group’s release announcing Cruz.”

Since Cruz was elected in 2012, he has been the conservative Senator many thought Rubio would prove to be when Rubio was elected in 2010. Cruz, along with those like Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL), was one of the staunchest opponents of the Senate’s immigration bill, which Rubio championed.
