CA: Baby Boomers Hardest Hit By Recession

The UCLA Center for Health Public Policy Research has revealed that the Californians hit hardest by the Great Recession were baby boomers. According to the Center, 700,000 Californians lost their health insurance between 2007 and 2009; those aged 45 to 64 saw a two percent increase in lost insurance. Overall, those in what the study termed the “middle-impact category” watched insurance decrease dramatically, from 20.8 percent uninsured to 26.2 percent uninsured. A full 41.6 percent of those aged 26 to 44 in the “middle-impact category” were uninsured.
