Sarah Palin said she has no plans at this time to run for Alaska’s Senate seat in 2014, after she ignited a firestorm in July when she did not close the door on a potential run.
Appearing on Fox News’s On The Record on Friday, Palin said, “As of this date, I am not planning to run for the U.S. Senate, but I certainly would never say never in this case.”
She said Alaskans refer to Sen. Mark Begich (D-AK), the incumbent who is up for reelection in 2014, and his supporters as “Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch” because “he’s being led by this bunch of Harry Reid and President Obama.”
“He certainly needs to be replaced, and we need someone there who understands that… our country’s going bankrupt and we need to rein in government,” she said. “It doesn’t have to be me. There are thousands of good Alaskans with that servant’s heart with the ability and the desire to serve ‘we the people.'”
She said it was hilarious that “Begich seems to want to use my name as his fund-raising tool so often with his far-left friends because every time I speak about this issue, he’ll fire off e-mails and fundraising pleas, saying, ‘Sarah Palin’s talking about taking my job!'”
Palin said when she did not rule out a bid in a radio interview with Sean Hannity that it sent Begich into a “panic.” Palin added that Obama does not need more Senators on his side who favor “Big Brother government.”
