Concealed Carry Applications Surge in Ohio

Concealed carry permit applications are surging in Ohio.

According to 10TV, permit applications in the first nine months of 2013 exceeded the number of applications during any full calendar year since concealed carry was legalized in Ohio in 2004.

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine’s office reports that 82,200 new concealed carry permits were issued in the first nine months of 2013. Prior to this, the highest one year total was 76,000 in 2012, of which 64,600 were new licenses and the remainder were renewals.

DeWine’s office also reports the surge in permit requests is not over. 18,700 new permits were issued for the period between July 1 to September 30 alone.
