The Obama Administration’s new goal for the healthcare online market is that 80% of those who want to buy insurance will successfully be served. The lowered expectations for the healthcare.gov website prompted the administration to devise the mantra “work smoothly for the vast majority of users.”
Last Thursday, Obama explained at a news conference: “The majority of people who use it will be able to see it operate the way it was supposed to.” Unfortunately, this will leave tens of thousands unable to enroll.
The initial Obamacare process was overwhelmed with troubles due to the inadequate setting of customary performance criteria and serious software and hardware flaws. That the Obama Administration and the HHS have proven to be inept is bad enough, but according to a Washington Post story, the administration tried to keep secret the “80-percent-is-better-than-nothing” goal.
Obama supporters are trying to come to the administration’s rescue and are still defending the indefensible. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi in her interview Sunday on Meet the Press continued to deny that in 2009 she misled the American people by assuring them they could retain their healthcare insurance. She stuttered and appeared flustered, using incomplete sentences and saying, “Well, it’s not that it’s not correct, it’s that if you want to keep it and… it’s important for the insurance company to say to people, this is what your plan does: It doesn’t prevent you from being discriminated against on the basis of preexisting conditions, lifetime limits, annual limits.”
Former Obamacare website overseer Jeffrey Zients remarked, “The majority of people who use it will be able to see it operate the way it was supposed to.” But he admits there are still many ongoing problems: “That doesn’t mean that the site will be sufficient for 100 percent of users or consumers to use for enrollment.”
