Rep. Terry (R-NE) Blasts Obama Admin Opposition to Obamacare Transparency Bill

On Monday, Rep. Lee Terry (R-NE) launched into the Obama administration’s opposition to the GOP House-produced HR 3362, which would require the administration to provide weekly reports on the status of healthcare.gov. The White House stated that the implementation of the transparency bill would be “extraneous” and “costly.”

Terry asked, “How can the President cite ‘cost’ when the CBO scored this bill at zero? It’s obvious that the Obama administration is desperate to avoid any effort to get the facts. What exactly are they so afraid we’ll find if we have real-time transparency?”

Thus far, the Obama administration has been significantly less than transparent about the number of Obamacare enrollees, problems with the website, and security issues with regard to public information. Terry added, “Congress and the Ameircan people should have real-time access to facts and data so we all have a complete and accurate picture about what’s working, what’s not working, what’s being fixed, who’s fixing it and how much will it cost taxpayers.”

The House is set to consider the bill by the end of this week.
