Repeal of Colorado's High Capacity Magazine Ban Up for Vote

Repeal of Colorado's High Capacity Magazine Ban Up for Vote

A repeal of Colorado’s high-capacity magazine ban will be voted on by a House committee February 10th. Another repeal attempt is scheduled to be heard in the Colorado Senate February 12th.

The Denver Post reports, “Democrats last year passed a law that prohibits the sale of ammunition magazines that hold more than 15 rounds. It became effective July 1.” The magazine ban was part of a larger, draconian gun law package passed in the wake of the heinous crime at Sandy Hook Elementary.

Republicans pushing for the ban’s repeal face an uphill battle, as the House committee voting on repeal is controlled by Democrats by a 7 to 4 margin.
