Bloomberg Vows Continued War on Sugary Drinks, Gun Shows

In a wide-ranging March 13 interview with Yahoo News’ Katie Couric, former NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg talked of continuing his push for a “limit” on “the sale of sugary drinks” and for background checks at gun shows.

According to Yahoo News, smoking, obesity, and the push for stricter gun laws were clumped together as “public health problems,” which Bloomberg described as a “battle” his side will “win.”

Bloomberg predicted a 16-ounce limit on sugary drinks “would soon be embraced nationally.”

Regarding guns, he said he “plans to be very active in backing candidates who support new gun laws during the upcoming midterm elections.” When Couric asked Bloomberg if he could “outspend the National Rifle Association” and other gun rights groups this year, he responded: “Oh sure. I’m not the only funder of this.”
