Chicago Resident With CCW Turns Tables on Armed Attackers

On April 5 a South Austin, Chicago resident pulled his concealed carry handgun and fired at an armed man and his accomplice after coming under attack.

According to the Chicago Tribune, “the man was walking from his garage to the front of his home” at about 2:40 a.m. “when two males in hoodies appeared in a gangway between his home and the neighbor’s home.” One of the two men drew a handgun and pointed it at the homeowner, who then pulled his own gun and opened fire.

The attackers fled.

Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer Mike Sullivan said the homeowner will not face charges because the shooting was “in self-defense.” Sullivan also said the homeowner “had a valid firearm owner’s identification card [and] a valid concealed carry permit.”
