Armed Jewelry Store Owner Kills One Robber, Sends Second Fleeing

On April 11th, the owner of Hardy Nix Jewelry in Antioch, California, shot and killed one of two burglars attempting a late afternoon robbery.

According to the San Jose Mercury News, 20-year-old David Carter and an accomplice entered the store to rob it. The armed store owner shot and killed Carter.

A female customer caught in the exchange of gunfire between the owner and one of the suspects suffered a “non-life threatening” injury. 

The suspect who was with Carter escaped and has yet to be apprehended. Police have not released his description.

Hardy Nix Jewelry has been in business and serving the community since 1947.
