Fundraiser: OSU College Republicans Hold Drawing for AR-15, Two 9mm Pistols

Oregon State University (OSU) College Republicans are sponsoring a fundraiser that features a drawing for an AR-15 and two 9mm semiautomatic pistols.

One of the pistols is a Smith & Wesson, the other is made by the European American Armory (EAA). The EAA pistol has 17-round capacity.

The AR-15 is made by Mossberg.

According to Oregon Live, the drawing will be held April 18. Until then, people may donate money and “put their name in for a chance at winning” one of the prizes.

OSU College Republican president Donald Handeland said, “None of the firearms will ever enter the campus.” Rather, winners will take their tickets to a gun store where a background check on each winner will be performed.

Handeland said his group has received some complaints over their drawing, but he stressed: “If you see a gun as a tool and are responsible with it, we think that’s better for the student body as a whole.”

Handeland also said he wished OSU would allow students with concealed carry permits to carry on campus: “If you had students allowed to concealed-carry, the risk of mass shootings would decrease.”
