2016: Rand Paul Opens Up Lead in Zogby Poll

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) has a sizable lead over other potential GOP 2016 presidential candidates in a new Zogby poll that was taken June 27-29. The poll of 282 likely GOP primary voters, though, has a wide margin of error of +/- 6 percentage points.

Paul received 20% while New Jersey Governor Chris Christie and former Florida Governor Jeb Bush got 13% each. Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker received 8%, and Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) received 7%. Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal got 4%.

According to Zogby, “this is the first time a GOP candidate has reached 20% in a crowded field and the first time a Zogby poll has shown someone emerging a bit from the pack.”
