Poll: 1/3 of Americans, Majority of Republicans Want Obama Impeached

A majority of Republicans and one-third of Americans believe President Barack Obama should be impeached.

A CNN poll released on Friday also found that a plurality of Americans (45%) believe that Obama has “gone too far” in expanding the power of the presidency. In that poll, 57% of Republicans felt Obama should be impeached. Other national polls have found that two-thirds of Republicans believe impeachment is justified.

The poll was conducted on July 18-20, and has a margin of error of plus or minus three percentage points.

Sarah Palin said that Obama’s lawlessness on illegal immigration was the tipping point for her to call for impeachment on the pages of Breitbart News, because it decimates Americans of all races and backgrounds, including legal immigrants, while threatening the country’s sovereignty.

Palin wrote that “the many impeachable offenses of Barack Obama can no longer be ignored,” and “if after all this he’s not impeachable, then no one is.”

“It’s time to impeach; and on behalf of American workers and legal immigrants of all backgrounds, we should vehemently oppose any politician on the left or right who would hesitate in voting for articles of impeachment,” she added.

The White House also said on Friday that they were taking the possibility of impeachment seriously, after Obama potentially enacts more executive actions, and Palin has emphasized that the Founders meant impeachment to be used as a check on a lawless executive.
