'People's Climate March' Tied to International Corporations

NEW YORK, Sept. 14 (UPI) — One of the “largest climate march[es] in history” will take place on September 21st in New York City.

The People’s Climate March will take place one day before a UN conference on climate change, and it could draw hundreds of thousands of people when you take into account the other nine cities, including London, Paris and Berlin, that will be participating.

The march is only the first of many events that will take place for the week following in New York City, as Climate Week NYC gets underway. The Climate Group, a nonprofit organization with partners like Dell, Ikea, HP, Nike, News Corp., Bloomberg and many governments and cities, is organizing the climate awareness activities. Many important figures of American and foreign governments are expected to make appearances, including President Barack Obama.

The march’s website states:

“With our future on the line and the whole world watching, we’ll take a stand to bend the course of history. We’ll take to the streets to demand the world we know is within our reach: a world with an economy that works for people and the planet; a world safe from the ravages of climate change; a world with good jobs, clean air and water, and healthy communities.”
