White House Distances From Decision to Isolate Soldiers Due To Ebola

White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest distanced the Obama administration from a military decision to isolate soldiers who served in Liberia for 21 days.

According to a CBS report, 11 soldiers including Maj. Gen. Darryl Williams are being monitored in Vicenza, Italy.

The decision to isolate soldiers indicates that there is still not a unified federal response regarding the handling of American citizens possibly exposed to the Ebola virus.

Earnest punted followup questions to the Department of Defense.

When questioned about the lack of a federal policy governing the return of medical workers, Earnest pointed to state’s rights under federalism.
