Friday at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), Donald Trump declared that Jeb Bush can’t win the presidency because of his views on Common Core and amnesty.
“I don’t see him winning,” Trump said of Bush, who is scheduled to participate in a CPAC question-and-answer session an hour after Trump’s speech. “I don’t see there’s any way. You people are going to have to make your own choice. Who knows?”
The audience, which earlier booed references to New Jersey Governor Chris Christie and Bush, booed again when Trump mentioned Bush’s name.
Trump reminded the audience that Bush, who is raising millions of dollars from donors who are pro-amnesty, pro-gay marriage, and pro-abortion, referred to illegal immigration as an “act of love.” Trump repeatedly emphasized that Bush is “in favor of Common Core,” which Trump said is “bad,” and “weak on immigration.”
Trump blasted Mitt Romney for blowing what was an “easy election to win” against Obama in 2012. He said there was “no excuse for not winning” in 2012, and predicted that it would be tougher for Republicans to win the White House in 2016 than in 2012.
“I don’t want what happened to Mitt Romney to happen again because that was a tremendous blow to the country,” Trump said.
Breitbart News reported that Trump recently hired top Iowa operative Chuck Laudner, and Trump told Fox News’s Sean Hannity that there is a “75%-80%” chance that he will run for president.
