What Abortionists Say Behind Closed Doors: Leaked Footage of National Abortion Federation Conference

National pro-life group Students for Life of America (SFLA) is promoting a video made from leaked footage of the National Abortion Federation’s (NAF) annual conference for Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers.

The footage of an NAF conference in San Francisco in April of 2014–previously under a restraining order against producer Center for Medical Progress–was leaked and put on YouTube on October 23. As a press release from SFLA observes, the footage features a panel of late-term abortion providers discussing how abortionists feel dismembering a fetus and inflicting pain. The abortionists also talk knowingly about the realities of baby heads getting stuck, and eyeballs falling into their laps during an abortion procedure–all to the laughter and applause of conference attendees.

SFLA, states the release, “is the only group that has combed through the leaked footage and created a mashup of some of the more egregious quotes.”

“While what is seen on this footage is sickening, I would implore the abortionists to take their knowledge of women’s health and the development of preborn children and use it for good instead of evil,” SFLA president Kristan Hawkins tells Breitbart News. “Leave the abortion industry and start helping women – which I’m sure is why most got into the industry in the first place – and stop betraying them.”

Hawkins said it is understandable that the NAF – a professional association of abortion providers – sought to restrain the footage of their conference.

“These tapes expose the gruesome reality that abortionists face every day, and the kinds of illogical justifications they use to end the lives of tiny human beings,” she explained. “This is the reality of abortion – eyeballs dropping in the laps of abortionists, heads getting stuck, women in pain – and to hear advocates laughing about the dismembering of babies is stomach-churning. Would the general public be laughing along with them?”

Included on the conference panel in the video is Dr. Lisa Harris from the University of Michigan, who states, “Ignoring the fetus is a luxury of activists and advocates. When you’re a provider, you can’t ignore the fetus, because the fetus is a marker of how well you did.”

Dr. Uta Landy, the national director of an abortion training program at the University of California San Francisco and the recipient of the Margaret Sanger Award from Planned Parenthood Federation of America, reads a comment from an abortionist who expresses, “My coping mechanism is to focus on the baby fetus. Reverence for something that was once alive, and now is not.”

Associate professor in Obstetrics and Gynecology-General at Northwestern University Dr. Cassing Hammond says, “We do recommend feticidal injections after a certain gestational age, but interestingly only because we don’t believe we can guarantee at the extremes of the gestational age, depending on dating, that [they] won’t be subject to resuscitation against the patient’s wishes.”

Hawkins states women “who are faced with a stressful pregnancy need true care and compassion, not laying on a cold table while their child is torn to pieces. No one deserves that kind of violence.”

“And taxpayers should not have to pay for it either by funding the nation’s largest abortion provider, Planned Parenthood, every year with over $500 million,” she adds.
