FORT DODGE, IOWA – Billionaire candidate Donald Trump raised further questions about Dr. Ben Carson’s biography and character, questioning the story about the doctor attempting to stab one of his friends when he was young.

In the course of a rally here, Trump questioned Carson’s story that his friend’s belt buckle stopped the knife, causing it to break.

He pointed down at his own belt buckle raising suspicion that it would turn in, instead of block a blunt force.

“Anybody have a knife?” Trump asked the crowd. “You want to try it on me?”

He repeated the attack on Carson that he employed earlier in the day, saying that the famous surgeon had a “pathological disease.”

“How stupid are the people of Iowa?” he asked the crowd. “How stupid are the people of the country to believe this crap?”

More importantly, Trump questioned Carson’s conversion story.

“He goes into the bathroom for a couple of hours and he comes out and now he’s religious?” he said. “Give me a break … It doesn’t happen that way.”

Trump’s decision to challenge Carson is risky, as many Iowans who support Trump cite Carson as their second choice. Trump admitted to the audience that what he said wasn’t nice, but that he didn’t mind being tough with Carson.

“I may leave here and you may say, ‘Oh that’s not nice what he said,'” he admitted. “Who cares? Then, you know, I go back to my life, I don’t have to do interviews, which I don’t like doing to be honest with you.”

Dr. Carson responded with three words. “Pray for him.”
