Rep. Diane Black (R-TN), who is running for governor in Tennessee, says Americans “need to be sure” that criminal illegal aliens are deported to their native countries.

In an interview with SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Daily, Black told Breitbart News Deputy Political Editor Amanda House criminal illegal aliens should not be shielded from deportation, especially considering Americans convicted of crimes are not shielded from the law.

I can tell you that I’ve done mission trips around the world and I would not dare think about being in another country without having my passport with me. We are a sovereign nation. We’ve got to know who’s coming in and why they’re coming into our country. And so for me it is very important, first of all, that we protect our country so that they don’t come in illegally to begin with, but then when someone has committed a crime, my goodness why would we shelter them? We don’t shelter Americans when they commit crimes? We need to be sure that they’re sent back to their country. [Emphasis added]

Black recently introduced legislation that would crowdfund President Trump’s border wall by allowing citizens to pitch in money to help construct and build the wall along the U.S.-Mexico border.
