AP Top 25; Top Player For Each Team Including 347th Ranked, Winless Grambling

Yesterday Breitbart released the Top 40 players, led by No. 1 Trey Burke. Today his Michigan team topped the Associated Press Top 25. Tonight we give you the top player for each team, including sharp-shooter Terry Rose (#20 in photo) for the only D1 team without a win this year.

AP Top 25 (with Top Player and Win So Far)

First we give you the table of the top 25 teams released by the AP Sports Writers today. Michigan is the No.l 1 team and their top player Trey Burke is the No. 1 player.  Their best win is at #23 Minnesota.  Kansas is the No. 2 team, with Ben McLemore as the 15th best player (Jeff Withey is No. 25).  Kansas has a much more impressive best win, at Ohio State where Michigan fell short.

Keep in mind that road wins are much more impressive than home (host) wins or even neutral court (vs.). Therefore Marquette’s win on the road vs. No. 32 Pitt is more impressive than their home win against No. 26 Georgetown, etc.

The rest of the teams are listed based on other teams getting votes from AP Writers for the Top 25 (26th through 41st place) and then for those with no votes, the computer rankings at www.kenpom.com. Therefore Georgetown is the 26th best team based on AP votes, and has the 38th best player in the country according to www.valueaddbasketball.com in Otto Porter, etc.

At the end of the list, Grambling State is 347th best team and the only team with no wins (0-17) and no players rated among the 2700 with Value Add. However, clearly Terry Rose (55 of 132 for 42 percent on 3-pointers).
