Top 25: Indiana Holds off Miami for No. 1 Ranking

Barry Larkin may skip watching his old Cincinnati Reds this Spring Training since he may watch his son Shane Larkin lead the University of Miami to No. 1 by next week.  The Hurricanes ninth and tenth road wins at Florida State and Clemson give them three more than the next best team (Arizona three road wins), and that gave them almost one-third of the first place votes to finish second place in the AP Top 25. First place Indiana will be the underdog Tuesday at No. 4 Michigan State, giving the Hurricanes a great chance to take over first place next week.

Gonzaga has played a much lighter schedule, but grabbed the other two first place votes after winning
one of their toughest tests of the year easily, 77-60 at St. Mary’s. The computers ( still
have Florida at No. 1, but they check in at fifth place in the AP after destroying Kentucky 69-52 and Auburn. They have a tough test at Missouri, and then get a chance to avenge their only SEC loss when Arkansas comes to town.

Duke is still a projected No. 1 seed in the tournament for the moment, despite falling to No. 6 after losing at Maryland. No. 9 Kansas will be an underdog Wednesday when they visit perhaps the hottest team in the
country, No. 14 Oklahoma State. The Big East has no team in the top seven, but six teams in the Top 25 including No. 8 Syracuse, No. 10 Louisville and No. 11 Georgetown.
