USC Suspends Two Players Indefinitely For Violating 'Unspecified' Team Rules After WA Brawl

USC’s basketball team suspended starting center Dewayne Dedmon and backup James Blasczyk indefinitely on Monday for violating team rules after reports surfaced that may have implicated them in brawls in Spokane, Washington last weekend that sent at least two women to the hospital with facial injuries.

Interim coach Bob Cantu said the players violated “an unspecified team rule,” and ESPN notes it was not “immediately clear” whether the players would be allowed to play in the Pac-12 Conference tournament game on Wednesday.

Spokane police are still investigating the matter. USC lost to Washington State 76-51 last Saturday in Pullman. Witnesses said USC players admitted to having punched the women during the melee.
