Leafs Extend Series With Bruins With 2-1 Victory

The Toronto Maple Leafs managed to beat the Boston Bruins 2-1 on Friday to play at least at one more game in their Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Leafs goalie James Riemer was magnificent and is the main reason why they survived. The Leafs defense was not very good because Riemer faced 44 shots and stopped 43. The only goal he allowed was from Zdeno Chara at 11:12 in the third period.

The first period was quiet with no goals and only one penalty. The Leafs first goal came at 11:27 in the second when the Leafs Tyler Bozak scored a short-handed goal.  Bruins Adam Ference fumbled the puck, Bozak scooped it up with his stick, and skated by himself into the Bruins zone. With a quick wrist shot he slipped it past Rask to give the Leafs the energy they desperately needed.

The Bruins almost forced overtime with 11 seconds left in the game. Goalie Tuuka Rask was pulled for an extra skater and Jaromir Jagr shot at Riemer, but his quick reflexes deflected the shot with his stick.

Game six is Sunday night at 7:30PM ET in Toronto. The Bruins hold the 3-2 lead and can advance with a win.
