Atlanta walks off over Giants, evens series

The Braves completed a come from behind win over the Giants Saturday with a dramatic 9th inning win over Giants closer Sergio Romo. Freddie Freeman singled in Andrelton Simmons with the bases loaded for the game winning hit.

The Giants took a 3-1 lead in the third, on the strength of doubles by Andres Torres and Tony Abreu and a single by Hunter Pence. They later extended it to 5-2 in the 5th on a sac fly by Hunter Pence.

The Braves started their comeback in the 6th on a 2-run home run by BJ Upton, one of his two home runs on the day. He raised his batting average to .166.

Justin Upton walked with the bases loaded to tie the game, 5-5, on Giants closer Sergio Romo (3-3). That set up Freeman’s heroics, a single knocking home the winning run.

The game preserved the Braves’ 5.5 game lead over the Nationals in the NL East.
