Iowa Advances to Little League World Series

Urbandale Little League from Iowa won 3-2 in nail-biting fashion over Coon Rapids Andover Little League from Minnesota to advance to the Little League World Series in Williamsport. Iowa jumped out to an early 1-0 lead on a Lucas Strain single in the 1st inning, but Minnesota answered in the following inning on a passed ball to tie the game at 1-1.

Iowa moved ahead again in the bottom of the 2nd inning on an RBI single by Sam Young, making the score 2-1 after 2 innings. Minnesota would not go down without a fight, however, and Will Goodwin of Minnesota drove a run in the 5th to even the score at 2-2.

With the game tied in the bottom of the 6th, Iowa needed one run to end the game and prevent extra innings. They received just that when a Minnesota passed ball allowed Joshua Neyens to score from 3rd, giving Iowa a 3-2 walk off win. Iowa now advances to pool play which begins August 15th.
