ASHBURN, Va.
Washington Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins says there’s “no doubt at all” he’ll be healthy for Week 1 of the regular season.

Cousins planned to return to practice Monday, a week after spraining his right foot in the Redskins’ preseason win over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Cousins’ status is vital because he will be the starting quarterback if Robert Griffin III isn’t cleared to play by the team doctor and coach Mike Shanahan ahead of the Sept. 9 opener against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Asked about the possibility of playing in Thursday’s preseason finale, Cousins said: “If someone could grant me a wish and tell me I wasn’t going to get hurt, or I wasn’t going to re-aggravate it, then I would like to get out there.”
