Adrian Peterson tragically met his son who died on Friday because he was allegedly beaten by his mother’s boyfriend for the first time on his death bed.
The woman had believed another man was the father until the boy was reportedly tested during a paternity case in the past couple of months, TMZ reports. When she informed Peterson, he immediately made plans to visit in October and figure out how to best be a present father and take care of mother and child.
After he was called about the child being beaten on Wednesday, he dropped everything and rushed to South Dakota, getting there in time to meet his son for the first time Friday while he was on life support and before he died.
The mother of the child has been identified as Ann “Ashley” Doohen, and her boyfriend Joseph Patterson has been charged. Patterson was sentenced in another case, but was allowed to stay out of jail on the condition of attending counseling.
