Texas Tech To Wear Special Uniforms To Honor Fallen Navy SEALS

When the Texas Tech Red Raiders take the field on November 9th they will be wearing special uniforms to honor fallen Navy SEALS, “Lone Survivor” Marcus Luttrell, and the Lone Survivor Foundation.

Nineteen Navy SEALS were killed during “Operation Red Wing” in Afghanistan on June 28, 2005. Luttrell alone survived but suffered “a number of fractures, a broken back, numerous shrapnel wounds, and…a gunshot.”

In honor the fallen warriors, the number 19 will appear on Texas Tech helmets and on a jersey patch. The jerseys also have a wing design by Under Armour “meant to represent Operation Red Wing.”

At the end of the game the jerseys will be auctioned off and 100 percent of the proceeds will go to Luttrell’s Lone Survivor Foundation, which “restores, empowers, and renews hope for our wounded service members and their families through health, wellness, and therapeutic support.”
