Kansas State Women's Basketball Team Offers Free Bacon at Home Opener

Professional and college teams often do giveaways to bring in large audiences. Bobbleheads are very popular lately, but Kansas State University is trying something new to bring students to their women’s basketball home opener: FREE BACON.

“We wanted to do something food-related to make a splash,” Kansas State athletics spokesman Randy Peterson told ESPN.com on Wednesday morning. “We’ve done free pizza before, but every college kid has access to pizza. It’s a little harder to get bacon.”

Almost everyone loves bacon, and college kids love free food. The team received such a huge response they had to up the amount so all students can receive their “boat of bacon.”

“Due to demand and the activity on social media, the bacon order has now increased from 100 pounds to 300 pounds,” Peterson said.

There will reportedly be enough to feed 750 people, and students even receive free admission with their school IDs. Kansas State opens their season against Tennessee State on Friday.
