These Boots Aren't Made for Walking: Astros Give Derek Jeter Boots, Really Ugly Ones

Derek Jeter has given 20 seasons to Major League Baseball. The Houston Astros gave him some atrociously ugly boots in appreciation.

In a moment made for regifting last night, the Astros presented the Yankee shortstop with a cowboy hat, golf clubs, and boots that weren’t made for walking–or display for that matter. The cowboy boots feature a Yankee insignia and Jeter’s #2. They also adopt the Yankee color scheme and pinstripes. It looks great on a baseball uniform. On cowboy boots? Not so much.

The well-mannered Jeter sported a smile but refrained from laughing upon receipt of the bad goods. His retirement tour hits dozens more parks before the season ends. The Astros have set the bar low. Can any team surpass Houston for a horrible gift? Oakland? Baltimore? Kansas City? Show us what you got.

Following the presentation of the clubs, hat, and boots, the Astros gave Jeter and the Yankees their second loss in as many games, a gift no doubt appreciated as much as the boots.
