FIFA Investigates Uruguay's Luis Suarez Biting of Italy's Giorgio Chiellini

FIFA is investigating Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez after he allegedly bit Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini on Tuesday. A picture of Ciellini’s shoulder showed distinct teeth marks.

Suarez has a biting history. He was banned for ten games last year after he bit Chelsea’s Branislav Ivanovic and in 2010 for seven games when he bit PSV Eindhoven’s Otman Bakkai. FIFA could ban him for 24 matches or two years.

Suarez immediately said it was an accident and his coach came to his defense.

“Those are situations that happen on the pitch. We were both just there inside the area. He shoved me with his shoulder, and my eye got left like that also,” he said.

“It seems there is this animosity toward him and he is being persecuted by past events,” said coach Oscar Tabarez. “There are people hiding behind the tree waiting for something to happen.”

Here is a video of the incident.
