Emotional Tribute to Frank Gore after Two-Day Eagles Tenure Ends

Philadelphia Eagles to add veteran running back Frank Gore

Frank Gore agreed to a deal with the Philadelphia Eagles over the weekend. By Tuesday, he disagreed with the agreement.

He wants to be a Colt instead. And while teams may leak signings during the three-day negotiation period, they don’t become official until 4 p.m. today. So, the 31-year-old can rip up that three-year contract with the Eagles and run all the way to Indianapolis if he likes without repercussion–at least from the Eagles franchise.

Eagles fans, the ones who pelted Santa Claus with snowballs and cheered at Michael Irvin’s career-ending injury, are another matter entirely.

In honor of Gore’s storied tenure in Philadelphia, Eagles fans released a tribute via YouTube. The video, complete with the obligatory Sarah McLachlan “I Will Remember You” soundtrack, bears an “#Eagle for Life” message along with a request for the franchise to retire the running back’s number.

In 10 seasons with the San Francisco 49ers, Gore accumulated more than 11,000 yards on the ground and 64 touchdowns. In two days with the Eagles, he accumulated derision.

“I remember that time where he said he signed… Wow memories,” one fan commented at YouTube. Another gushed, “Thank you for all those great hours.”
