China Applauds Return of NBA, Urges It to ‘Undertake Lobbying’ for China in U.S.

China’s state-run Global Times on Sunday touted the participation of the U.S. National Basketball Association (NBA) at China’s first International Consumer Products Expo, scheduled for May 7-10 in the city of Haikou. The Global Times suggested the event will give the NBA an opportunity to repair its relationship with the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) after Houston Rockets manager Daryl Morey expressed support for the Hong Kong democracy movement in 2019.

Twitter Won’t Take Action Against LeBron James for Tweet Targeting Officer

Twitter said it would not take action on a tweet posted by basketball player LeBron James targeting a Columbus police officer who fatally shot an knife-wielding assailant attacking an unidentified woman in Columbus, Ohio last week. The company claims its hands are tied because James deleted his tweet before the company could decide if it broke the rules.

Alabama Gov. Ivey Signs Ban on Transgender Athletes
