Texas’ Termination of Planned Parenthood’s Medicaid Funds Blocked

A federal judge issued an order on Thursday temporarily blocking the State of Texas from terminating Planned Parenthood’s Medicaid funding. Planned Parenthood sued the State in an effort to regain access to the funds stripped by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission.

Texas State Police Tapped to Help CPS Locate 2,800 Children

Members of the Texas Senate Finance Committee were incensed to hear on Wednesday that over 2,800 at-risk children have still not been seen by CPS after citizen reports of abuse or neglect. Senator John Wittmire immediately tapped the Texas Department of Public Safety to address this emergency. Of these 2,800 children, 511 are classified in the “priority one” category.

Texas to Obama: Certify that Refugees Do ‘Not Pose a Security Threat’

The Texas Health and Human Services Commission put the Obama Administration on notice with regard to requirements that must be met before Syrian refugees are resettled in the Lone Star State. This includes the prerequisite that the U.S. Office of Refugee Resettlement certify that “each refugee does not pose a security threat” to people of Texas.

Texas AG OK’s Prayer in Court Over Atheist Group’s Objections

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has issued an opinion stating it does not violate the Establishment Clause to open a court session with the statement “God save the State of Texas and this Honorable Court” or to open court with a prayer, or have a volunteer chaplain program to facilitate those prayers. An atheist group from Wisconsin had complained about the practice.

Zika Virus Expected to Spread at Texas-Mexico Border

Thirty-five cases of the Zika Virus have been reported in Texas but the virus is expected to spread in the Lone Star State during mosquito season. The threat is especially likely near the Texas-Mexico border and along the Gulf Coast.

Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick spoke to media in Fort Worth Tuesday about parental rights, local control, the role of the school, and the job of the superintendent. On Monday Patrick called for the resignation of the Fort Worth Independent School District superintendent that unilaterally adopted transgender bathroom guidelines without public input.

Texas AG Fires Off Letter to Fort Worth ISD Over Transgender Bathroom Policy

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has fired off a letter to the president of Fort Worth Independent School District (ISD) saying he has a “strong concern” that the school district’s “Transgender Student Guidelines” violates parents rights to information. He also said the policies are motivated by a misguided view of federal law.

Lawyers for the indicted Planned Parenthood undercover video journalists were in court in Harris County Friday and they are infuriated that justice is being delayed. Lawyers for David Daleiden filed motions to quash his indictments two weeks ago and they still have not been heard. Pretrial diversion deals were rejected weeks ago.

HOUSTON, Texas — Lawyers representing an indicted activist connected with undercover expose videos of Planned Parenthood urged in motions filed on Thursday that at a “press conference, Mr. Josh Schaffer, counsel for Planned Parenthood, boasted that he ‘explicitly pushed prosecutors’ to charge Mr. Daleiden and Ms. Merritt.”

The only Easter message from Planned Parenthood on Sunday morning asked people to sign a petition to “stop the investigations” into “PP health centers” and included “#StandWithPP.” As of the time of publication, neither @PPact or @PPFA had tweeted out any message for this Easter day.
