The sudden flurry of speculation around Poland leaving the bloc may have more to do with Brussels than it does Warsaw.
Poland is set for a legal showdown with the European Union establishment after its top court rejected moves by EU judges to block judicial reforms in the country, and the government saying it is being mistreated by Brussels because it is a conservative government which “stands for Christian values”.
President of the European Council Donald Tusk has said that Poland could leave the European Union if it continues to clash with the bloc over migrants and judicial reform.
Questions on EU membership, support for the traditional family unit, and Europe’s “more than 1,000-year-old Christian heritage” have been included in referendum plans put forward by Poland’s conservative president.
