Students at Wesleyan participated in Veterans Day celebrations by defacing an American flag with spray paint.
The anti-Trump student protesters at Wesleyan University, who were animated by concerns about the treatment of racial minorities in America, hung an American flag upside before spray painting it with the phase, “AmeriKKKa.”
The student protesters claimed that they defaced the flag to bring attention to how Donald Trump’s victory in last week’a election represents “white supremacy.”
Cuniff told the Argus they sprayed that message on the flag to “symbolize the prominence of white supremacy in the United States” represented by Trump’s victory.
The two students were initially planning to burn the flag, they told the crowd, but “chose not to burn the flag out of respect for Veterans Day,” according to the Argus.
