Katrina Pierson Earns Support of 'Texas First' Grassroots Border Security Coalition

TEXAS–A vocal coalition of grassroots tea party and border security-focused organizations named Texas First today made clear its intention to support Katrina Pierson–a primary challenger to the longstanding Dallas area Congressman Pete Sessions.

A press release circulated today argued that Ms. Pierson “will represent the concerns of Texans and not those of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Washington, D.C.”

The coalition charged that Rep. Sessions has long turned a deaf ear to Texas grassroots on border security: “If Congressman Sessions doesn’t listen to our concerns now, why would he when he gets re-elected?”

The announcement comes days after Breitbart Texas unveiled town hall video footage of Congressman Sessions apparently supporting conditional amnesty for illegal aliens.

The release lists a number of prominent grassroots leaders that have not been shy in picking primary candidates–JoAnn Fleming of Grassroots America, WE THE PEOPLE PAC being one example. Fleming joins eight others in support of Pierson: Maria Martinez and Barbara Mabry, Immigration Reform Coalition of Texas; Larry Korkmas, Texans for Immigration Reform and Enforcement; Liz Theiss, Stop the Magnet; Art Bedford, activist at large; Robert Gonzalez and Tanya Robertson, Clear Lake Tea Party; and Toni Fabry, Frisco Tea Party.

The Texas First Coalition styles itself as a group of “like-minded organizations brought together to promote American Sovereignty, Rule of law, Border Security and Texas Jobs for Texas Workers.”
